Home Field Advantage: Morse, St. Charles Open Wildcard Round with Win
|
The St. Charles Sheens started the Wildcard Round in style today, downing the visiting Greenville 84's at Crown Royal Stadium by a score of 9-4 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Sheens designated hitter Thatcher Morse was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.
In the bottom of the third, St. Charles second baseman Gerardo Castillo had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Castillo stroked a 2-run double to right-center. It made the score 4-0, St. Charles. For the game, he went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Castillo. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Crown Royal Stadium in Chicago.
