San Francisco Wins, 6-5
|
Despite a fine performance by center fielder José Deleón, the Lubbock Green Sox lost to the San Francisco Seals, 6-5. Deleón was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Earning his 9th save for San Francisco was Don Spalton. The Green Sox, at 23-36, have lost 5 straight games.
San Francisco used a well-timed hit by António Sánchez to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Seals ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Oscar Fairchild told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
