Houston's Pruitt Gets 2000th Hit Sunday, July 16th , 2051 Eagles third baseman Matt Pruitt never thought his name would be associated with some of the great players in league history. Now that he has reached the 2000-hit threshold, that's all but guaranteed. Pruitt collected his big hit in a 4-3 loss to Phoenix. Afterward, he thought about the achievement: "Overwhelmed," he said. "That's how I feel about it right now." Pruitt went 1-for-1 for the game.
