Blast Off! 3 HR for Byrd Tuesday, August 15th , 2051 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Prohibition Brewing Co Stadium were taking cover all day long as Michael Byrd zeroed in on them, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. The big game from the Yonkers center fielder helped the Yetis take the victory, 18-1, over the Vista Panthers. "I told myself not to press on the last one," he told reporters in the postgame press conference. "I knew I couldn't force it -- it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game, he collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4 and scored 3 runs. Michael Byrd grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off John Stevens in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Paul Alexander in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Meyer in the 6th and walked in the 7th. Thus far this year Byrd has hit .276 with 29 home runs and 64 RBIs. |
