Gómez Rips 3 HR Saturday, July 29th , 2051 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Jupiter Hammerheads today. Corpus Christi third baseman Miguel Gómez tripled up on the home runs to propel the Hooks to the 12-2 win at Dow Chemical Stadium. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Jupiter manager David Robbins said. "Gómez hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Gómez collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Miguel Gómez hit a two-run home run off Nick Kent in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Nick Kent in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Bobby Lund in the 7th. So far this season Gómez is batting .279 with 22 home runs, 57 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 80 hits in 287 at-bats, 32 walks and a .372 OBP. Gómez has played in 101 games. |
