Goena Hittin' on All Cylinders
Alberto Goena did everything he could for the Richardson HS Eagles -- literally.

The 16-year-old second baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Eagles, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Maize HS Coyotes, 18-6, at Roswell HS Grounds.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Goena reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Goena banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 5 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Alberto Goena flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Kenneth Brown in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
