Golden Gophers Come up Short of Playoffs Saturday, May 15th , 2055 A late-season playoff push is not in the cards for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The club today was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention. "There are a lot of long faces around right now," said Golden Gophers manager Luther Stoffels. "You know in your head that every year, most teams in baseball have to go through this, but it still hurts when you realize you've lost your shot at a title." The Golden Gophers have missed the playoffs 39 times in their 49 years as a College Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 7th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2048. In the last 10 seasons, the Golden Gophers have only made the playoffs once. |
