After a 5-hit effort to lead Penn State's 7-3 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers, right fielder Bill Andress told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the College Baseball-level is really something special."

The 20-year-old player earned his accolades at Medlar Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Cavaliers.

"His swing is getting there," said Nittany Lions skipper Cade Palen, who spoke glowingly of Andress after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Bill did that to perfection."

Bill Andress hit a solo-shot off Jacques Brunet in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jacques Brunet in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

Looking at his present stats, Andress has compiled a .282 batting average in 49 games with a .362 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 33 runs.
