Paul Belts 5 Hits

After a 5-hit effort to lead El Paso's 23-1 victory over the Crandon Cardinals, second baseman Brock Paul told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the BSA Rookie League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Swamp Foxes Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Cardinals.

"His swing is getting there," said Diablos skipper Tim Cameron, who spoke glowingly of Paul after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Brock did that to perfection."

Brock Paul singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Pedro Martínez in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, struck out in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Paul is hitting .421 this year with 27 home runs, 105 RBIs and 106 runs scored. He has 142 hits in 337 at-bats, 67 walks and a .530 on-base percentage. Paul has played in 89 games.
