Stokes Torches Tigres for 5 Hits
Saturday, August 28th , 2055
El Paso Diablos left fielder Jerry Stokes had a day to remember at Ballpark of Matane, ripping apart the San Juan Tigres and sparking the 12-5 Diablos win.
Stokes wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Stokes told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jerry Stokes hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
So far in 2055 Stokes is batting .429 with 19 home runs, 90 RBIs and 84 runs scored. He has 111 hits in 259 at-bats and a .477 OBP.
