Machine Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
|
The Chicago Machine ushered in the 2051 season with a win versus the Vista Panthers at Old Comiskey Park. The final score was 5-1. Third Baseman Henry Gray had a standout performance. Tim Cone, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits.
Gray had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 splitter from Eric Sullivan, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Machine a 5-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Gray.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Gray told the Chicago Observer.
