The Chicago Machine beat the Houston Eagles, 7-2, at Eagles Park. The win was due in part to left fielder Ryan Holden, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Juan Peña, who threw 95 pitches over 5.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits. The last-place Machine improved to 32-49.
Holden contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Chicago in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Holden took a fastball from Roy Lane and stroked the home run to right. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Machine to leap in front, 3-2.
