Eagles Get Past Phoenix for 3-2 Win
|
Behind the bravura of third baseman Matt Pruitt, the Houston Eagles topped the Phoenix Firebirds by the score of 3-2. Pruitt was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Eagles. Houston reliever George Jones picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Arnold Jensen absorbed the loss. The 6th-place Eagles have a record of 44-50.
Houston took a 3-2 lead on Ronald Carter's 23rd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Phoenix pitcher Arnold Jensen in the bottom of the eighth.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Houston manager Eichiro Yamamoto said.
