84's Fall Short, 1-0, at Charleston
|
The Charleston RubberDucks had to overcome a fine effort from Greenville pitcher Bernie Snow to grab a narrow 1-0 win at Charleston Ballpark. Snow went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Charleston reliever Joe Fahey picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bernie Snow was saddled with the loss. Pete Brown was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 14 save opportunities.
The RubberDucks got a big at-bat from center fielder Domingo Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Charleston a 1-0 lead.
"Both teams played hard," said Charleston manager Orlando Núñes.
The win elevated the RubberDucks to 53-49.
