Yonkers Tops Irvine Again, 6-4
|
With starter Lonnie Cullman leading the charge, the Yonkers Yetis defeated the Irvine Gang Green, 6-4, in Game 2 of the Elite 8 today. The right-hander threw 8.1 innings of 6-hit ball at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace to help Yonkers take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Arthur Rizzuto dealt the Gang Green a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Yonkers leading 1-0, Rizzuto, who finished 3rd in the NL in runs with 109 last year, hit a full count changeup for a 2-run double.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Yetis manager Ángel Castaneda, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 14th , 2044 at The Ballpark at Irvine in Irvine.
