Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Browns
The St. Louis Browns beat the Chicago Machine, 5-2. St. Louis pitcher and Gladstone, Missouri, native Pat Daniel led the way. Don Gregg notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The win gives St. Louis a season record of 66-40.

Luis Miguel Martínez, who leads the BSA with a 1.091 OPS, aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth. For the game, the pinch hitter drew 1 walk.

"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Martínez told the St. Louis Daily. "And padding the St. Louis win column."
