Chappell Leads Charge, Greenville Blasts Calrissian
|
The Greenville 84's handed the Orlando Calrissian a sound defeat, 13-3, at Michigan & Trumbull. Jonathon Chappell, who finished 3rd in the BSA in home runs with 51 in 2052, was a main contributor to the win. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Greenville. Jun Matsuura, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Calrissian fall to 4-7 and continue their rocky start to the 2056 season.
With Greenville leading 4-0 in the bottom of the third, Chappell came up to bat against Orlando pitcher Li-hong Chieu. Chappell hit a changeup to center for a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the 84's on top, 7-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Chappell told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
