Firebirds Defeat Steers, 4-2
|
A 4-RBI performance from the fan favorite Bobby Gore helped the Phoenix Firebirds beat the Dallas Steers, 4-2. Rafael Ruíz, now 2-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The Firebirds now have a record of 49-58.
Gore had a game-changing home run in the top of the 17th. On a 1-1 fastball from Brian Watson, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Firebirds a 4-2 lead. It was the 37th home run of the year for Gore.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Dallas manager Arturo Mesa.
