Rebels Get Close Win Over RubberDucks, 5-4
|
The Boston Rebels trumped the Charleston RubberDucks, 5-4, at Charleston Ballpark. Boston catcher Larry Piper was terrific. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Boston reliever Jay Rice picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Pete Brown absorbed the loss. Charleston has now lost 6 straight.
Bobby Crawford, the 25-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Crawford contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Boston up, 5-4.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Charleston manager Orlando Núñes said following the tough loss.
