Young, Wave Wallop Doobies in Game 3 of R2
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of left fielder Ron Young, the Maui Wave got a road win against the Denver Doobies, 9-1, in Game 3 of the Round 2 today. Young was 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Wave, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
It could have been a different outcome for Maui, had it not been for Glenn Browne, the 27-year old catcher . Browne contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Maui up, 3-0.
"We're happy," Browne told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Cronos Coliseum. Slated to start are Ron Sosa for the Maui Wave and Jofet Malveiro for the the Denver Doobies.
