Kings Defeat Seals, 8-5
|
The Kansas City Kings overcame a fine performance by San Francisco shortstop Nicolas van der Heyden to defeat the Seals, 8-5, at Kings Ball Park. van der Heyden was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Won-taek Han, 5-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Eldon Ritchey got the save, his 12th in 17 chances.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, António Sánchez had a game-changing hit. The Kings first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Jorge Martínez, making the score 5-4, Kansas City.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Sánchez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Kings raised their record to 50-78.
