Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Fort Worth Cougars were eager to watch Melvin Scott square off against Ron Anderson of the visiting San Francisco Seals. In the end, the Seals won the game, 6-4, with Anastasio Rivera leading the way. Don Spalton closed the door for San Francisco, picking up his 1st save of the year.

San Francisco grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Rivera, who led the BSA in doubles with 46 in 2048, hit a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Seals out in front, 5-3.

"We take it day by day here," said Rivera, "and today was a good one for us."
