Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Wave
|
The Maui Wave beat the Springfield Stars, 4-2. Maui pitcher and Shelbyville, Kentucky, native Tim Pugh led the way. Jorge Gonzáles notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 5-3. Maui improves to 97-62 with the win. They lead their division by 2 games.
Maui took a 3-2 lead on Miguel Guerrero's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Springfield pitcher Jin-woo Kun in the bottom of the eighth.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Pugh told the Maui Bulletin.
