Sheens Top Kings, 9-4
|
The St. Charles Sheens took Kansas City pitcher Gregory McClellan's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Kings Ball Park. The final score had St. Charles getting past the Kings, 9-4. McClellan went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 4. Glenn Riley, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. The Kings, now 8-19, continue their sluggish start.
St. Charles needed the clutch hitting of Francisco Martínez to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sheens on top, 5-4. For the game, Martínez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Feels good to get the job done," Martínez said after the game.
