Charleston Gets 4-2 Win
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Charleston RubberDucks and Maui Wave were able to complete their ballgame.
Getting offensive support from Valentín Espinoza, the Charleston RubberDucks topped the Maui Wave, 4-2. Espinoza went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the RubberDucks. Picking up the win was Matt Pate. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 2. The save went to Rod Bowen, number 1 for him.
Domingo Sánchez was 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for Charleston. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tim Pugh. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Espinoza.
The victory makes Charleston 2-3.
