The Sounders grabbed a win, 5-4, at Seabreeze Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Dallas pitcher Daniel Díanz. Díanz went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Emerson Davis earned the save, his 10th, for the Sounders. The 6th-place Steers have lost 4 straight games.

Long Island used the timely hitting of Larry Cooke to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sounders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We ground out the win," said Cooke. "That's all that matters."
