Slaughter Holds Yonkers Hitless
The Columbus Coalition relied on no-hit stuff from starter Wes Slaughter to defeat the Yonkers Yetis 1-0 at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace today.

"It's quite a thrill," Slaughter told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."

To get his name logged in the Baseball Stars Association records, he stopped Yonkers cold and hitless, surrendering no walks and fanning 9 of the 27 batters he faced.

Columbus manager Teruo Kouno was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Slaughter "made managing easy today."

"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."

So far this season Slaughter has a 4-4 record, 12 starts, 78 innings, 112 strikeouts and a 2.88 ERA.
