The Yonkers Yetis picked up a win at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace, knocking off the Columbus Coalition, 3-2. Starting pitcher Emerson Davis played a key role in the triumph. Davis got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. Davis allowed 2 runs. Yonkers's record now stands at 28-30, placing them third in the Earth Division.
The Yetis got a big at-bat from shortstop Larry Cooke. For the game, Cooke was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Yonkers a 2-0 lead.
"This was a tough loss," said Columbus manager Teruo Kouno. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
