Wave Fall Short, 6-5, at St. Charles

The St. Charles Sheens beat the Maui Wave, 6-5, in part because of catcher Jesús Andrés. He went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was St. Charles reliever Octávio Colón, now 2-0. The loser was Matt Reed. Ánibal Escobedo got the save, the 1st for him this season.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Andrés delivered big-time for St. Charles, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Kevin Clark. The game-changing hit put the Sheens on top, 6-4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Andrés told the St. Charles Citizen.
St. Charles has now won 3 straight, while the Wave have lost 3 in a row.
