Robles Smacks 3 Out of the Park Friday, July 22nd , 2050 Vista Panthers center fielder Mauro Robles put on a dazzling display of power today at Michigan & Trumbull against the Greenville 84's. In the 6-5 Panthers victory Robles penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Greenville manager Jim Dunbar said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 31-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Robles said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Mauro Robles hit a solo-shot off Leonard Ames in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Leonard Ames in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Leonard Ames in the 5th and struck out in the 7th. Currently Robles has 23 home runs and a .225 batting average. |
