Irvine Takes Wildcard Round in Deciding Game Monday, October 9th , 2045 The Irvine Gang Green and Yonkers Yetis didn't hold back anything in the Wildcard Round, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Elite Eight. Irvine won the final game by a score of 6-2 at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace and that concluded the series, 3-2. "Relief is the biggest thing," Irvine right fielder Mike Hamilton said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Yonkers deserves credit for the hard fight." Hamilton paced the Irvine offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .389 with a .522 on-base percentage, 0 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Irvine Gang Green will play against the Maui Wave in the next round. Maui had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Elite Eight schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
