Wildcard Round Goes the Distance, Chicago Prevails
Wednesday, October 10th , 2046
The Chicago Machine were paced by a strong offensive output from John Conway as they downed the Columbus Coalition 3-2 to win the Wildcard Round.
Chicago won the final game by a score of 7-5 at Old Comiskey Park to send themselves off to the Elite Eight.
"I wasn't so much focused on putting up big offensive numbers as I was about ensuring we won the games. So it's mission accomplished there," said third baseman Conway, who was named MVP.
For the series, the MVP hit .421 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Chicago Machine will play against the Yonkers Yetis in the next round. Yonkers had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Elite Eight schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.
