At the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies today, the longtime friend and manager of Osvaldo Cruz told the audience, "The worst thing as a manager is the day you realize you want to win more than the players do. I never had that problem with Osvaldo. Nobody wanted to win more than this gifted pitcher."

For his strong and consistent pitching over the years, Cruz was voted into the Baseball Stars Association Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers Association.

When he ended his career at age 35, Cruz had a career won-loss record of 202 wins and 97 losses with 2191 strikeouts in 2680.2 innings and a 3.64 ERA.
