Beach Bums Halt Martínez's Hit Streak Monday, May 30th, 2039 Allentown center fielder José Martínez experienced something against the Santa Monica Beach Bums he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game. The Beach Bums pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 21 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Hillbillies to a 6-5 victory at Tug McGraw Stadium. "Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 21-game hitting streak," Martínez joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories." This year Martínez has batted at a .330 pace with 36 hits, 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 29 times. |
