Gabriel Tosses No-Hitter Against Waco
Saturday, July 13th , 2047
The Redwood City Redwoods relied on no-hit stuff from starter Reynaldo Gabriel to defeat the Waco Blue Cats 1-0 at Redwood Park today.
"It's quite a thrill," Gabriel told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Pacific Coast League records, he stopped Waco cold and hitless, surrendering 1 walk and fanning 12 of the 29 batters he faced.
Redwood City manager Glenn Tutt was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Gabriel "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
This season Gabriel has 5 saves in 8 relief appearances with a 5-2 record and 2.70 ERA.
