Redwoods End Spaeth's Streak
Friday, August 28th, 2037
It was the best of both worlds for the Redwood City Redwoods today at Redwood Park, as they defeated the Knoxville Johnnys 6-2 and also snapped Carl Spaeth's 21-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Knoxville third baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against Spaeth, we just wanted to win the game," said Redwoods skipper Kip Rasmussen. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Spaeth frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

Spaeth is currently hitting at a .298 pace with 6 home runs, 43 RBIs and has scored 40 times.
