Jacobs Blasts 3 out of the Park Sunday, May 2nd , 2055 Joplin Miners shortstop Rick Jacobs sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Santa Fe Diablos, Jacobs told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Jacobs pushed the Miners past the Diablos, 10-7. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Jacobs told reporters after the game. Rick Jacobs hit a three-run home run off Dave Stephens in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Dave Stephens in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Darren Travis in the 9th. In 27 games this season, Jacobs has batted at a .282 pace with 29 hits and 10 home runs. |
