Jacobs Bashes 3 HR for Joplin Monday, May 3rd , 2055 It was a good day for the Joplin Miners and an exceptional one for Rick Jacobs. The 21-year-old shortstop sent three bombs out of the park to help the Miners beat the Santa Fe Diablos, 16-8, at Pecan Pit. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Jacobs said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 3 runs and smacked 3 hits in 6 at-bats.
