Escobedo Blasts 3 into Bleachers Friday, July 7th , 2051 Fans are still buzzing after Casper whipped the Joplin Miners by the score of 8-7 today at Wrangler Field. José Escobedo smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the second baseman bashed out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, had 4 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Escobedo said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Escobedo said. "Three is just... wow." José Escobedo hit a two-run home run off Danny Turner in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jeremy Simpson in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Clarence Hill in the 9th. Thus far this season in 63 games Escobedo is batting .247 with 13 home runs, 28 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 38 hits in 154 at-bats. |
