Martin Gets Award for Relief Work

He may only be 25, but Ashton Martin of the Butler White Sox has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the National League.

The reliever was today named the NL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2051.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 5 saves in 43 relief appearances and 86 strikeouts in 84.1 innings. He had a record of 5-0 to go with his 2.99 ERA.

He received 26 first place votes out of a possible 28. Javier Garay of the Newark Bulldogs finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Willis Duron of the Buffalo LightSabres finished third.
