Aragón Socks It to Everett 3 Times Monday, August 2nd , 2055 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Alfredo Aragón swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Memorial Park, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Everett Chargers were better. The Glace Bay Miners couldn't capitalize on the big game from Aragón and dropped the contest, 12-8. The mood in the Miners clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Chargers to spoil the day for Aragón. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Glace Bay manager Kyle Kendall said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Aragón collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Glace Bay third baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Alfredo Aragón struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Mike Gibson in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Derrick Hill in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Randolph Moon in the 9th. On the year, Aragón is hitting .292 with 119 hits, 45 home runs, 94 RBIs, .344 OBP and has scored 76 runs. |
