Pierce Clobbers 3 HR Against Rebels Friday, August 20th , 2055 It was a good day for the Gainesville Guidos and an exceptional one for Chris Pierce. The 20-year-old left fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Guidos beat the Wilmington Rebels, 5-4, at Miller Park. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Pierce said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 4 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats. Chris Pierce singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Cliff Pannell in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off José Castaneda in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off César Gómez in the 10th. Thus far this year, Pierce is batting .285 with 51 home runs, 103 RBIs and 88 runs scored. |
