Nipper Hits for the Cycle Monday, May 18th , 2054 Ed Nipper roughed up Reno Silver Sox pitching in a big way at Newark Recreational Ballpark, leading the Newark to a win, 8-7. With his parents and family watching from the stands, the 22-year-old second baseman put on a magnificent show, hitting for the cycle -- collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. "It was a good day for that to happen," a beaming Nipper said after the game. "I really got some good looks and delivered. Sometimes you're just on." He finished his historic day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBI and 1 run scored. Ed Nipper doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Ángel Rodríguez in the 8th.
