Edge Joins 3-HR Club Friday, May 31st , 2047 Cincinnati Pride center fielder Allen Edge put on a dazzling display of power today at Filibertos Field against the Chula Vista Tacos. In the 13-11 Pride victory Edge penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Chula Vista manager Felipe Torres said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Edge said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Allen Edge hit a solo-shot off David Sánchez in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Maurice Sullivan in the 7th, hit a sac fly in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Nick Weaver in the 10th. To date, Edge has collected 13 hits for a .176 average. He has posted 5 home runs, scored 8 runs and driven in 15 runs. |
