Ávila Blisters Lee's Summit
Saturday, June 22nd, 2041
After a 5-hit effort to lead Nashua's 12-5 victory over the Lee's Summit Tigers, shortstop José Ávila told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the 24 & Under's-level is really something special."

The 22-year-old player earned his accolades today at Redleg Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Tigers.

"His swing is getting there," said Redlegs skipper Rick Allen, who spoke glowingly of Ávila after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. José did that to perfection today."

José Ávila hit a three-run home run off Gary Abbott in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 8th.

Thus far in 2041 Ávila is hitting .275 with 3 home runs, 20 RBIs, 31 runs scored and has compiled a .327 OBP.
