Hughes Joins 3-HR Club Tuesday, June 26th, 2035 Some days you can't have it all, as Savannah Hogs third baseman Nick Hughes discovered when he cracked three homers against the Kenosha Kingfish today, and still lost. "I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game." The 23-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Kingfish walked away with the 10-8 triumph at Ballpark of Huntington Beach. Hughes finished the day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats and 6 RBIs. "I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview. Nick Hughes hit a solo-shot off Akutla Mana in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Álex Crus in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Tim Young in the 8th. So far this season Hughes is hitting .266 with 6 home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 17 hits in 64 at-bats and a .351 OBP. |
