Outstanding Pitcher Award Announced, Winner is Guerin

Willem Guerin of the Night Creepers humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the Appalachian League Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Outstanding Pitcher Award.

The Phoenix hurler held opposing hitters to a .196 batting average while putting up a 10-6 record and a 3.00 earned run average. He started 27 games, pitched 147 innings and struck out 179.

He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 12. Christian Richard of the Asheville Hippies finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while José Muñíz of the Savannah Hogs finished third with 4 first place votes.
