Cougars Prevail, as Elite 8 Goes to the Wire Friday, May 31st , 2047 Washington State Cougars won a nail-biting series against the Utah Utes 2-1, wrapping up the Elite 8 finale 6-5 at Spring Mobile Ballpark. Cougars right fielder Austin Hunt was named the series MVP. He batted .385, drove in 4 runs and scored 2 to lead Washington State into the next round of play. "Austin was real solid for us, real solid," said Cougars manager Bill Sommer. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time."
