Bowen Shuts Out UCLA, 7-0 Monday, May 4th , 2043 It wasn't easy but the Saint John's Red Storm made it look that way. Starter Rod Bowen shut out the UCLA Bruins despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Saint John's Red Storm cruised to victory, 7-0. Bowen allowed only 1 hit and rang up 15 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
