Thrice Is Nice: Welch Unloads 3 Homers Wednesday, May 20th , 2043 Ben Welch went on an explosive hitting spree against the Iowa State Cyclones at Olsen Field today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Texas A&M Aggies to the 12-5 win. The catcher finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. "It was just one of those days," Welch said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Iowa State skipper Martin Cadwallader said Welch was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Ben Welch hit a solo-shot off Denny Kennedy in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Denny Kennedy in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Mike Brock in the 8th.
